The Devil Wears Prada made a stop at the Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY on November 10. The band is out on the road for their “The Act” tour along with metalcore bands Norma Jean and Gideon. Syracuse local act, Junexa, opened the show.
Junexa, who just put out a new single, “Counterfeit,” produces a sound that has the intensity of the band Fit for a King blended with The Amity Affliction. Lead singer, Noah Rich, creates a balance of melodic vocals and harsh, in your face growls. Junexa is gaining traction. Expect to see more from them in the future.
Gideon was up next. This was their first time playing in Syracuse and they were welcomed by energetic fans. Gideon is touring in support of their latest release, Out of Control. Lead singer, Daniel McWhorter’s, high-energy stage presence got the crowd to loosen up. No one was standing still during their performance. Gideon certainly left an impact and hopefully they will return to Syracuse in the future.
Seasoned metal-core veterans, Norma Jean, took the stage next. The band is on tour for their eighth release, All Hail. They are no stranger to the Syracuse scene. Singer, Cory Brandan stated, that he, “Couldn’t be happier to be back.” Norma Jean was well received with fans fist-pumping and singing along to every song. The passion that the entire band brings to the stage is infectious and could be felt throughout the venue.
The Devil Wears Prada closed out the night. The Christian metalcore band from Dayton Ohio comprised of Mike Hranika (lead vocals), Jeremy DePoyster (rhythm guitar), Kyle Sipress (lead guitar) and Andy Trick (bass) has been together since 2006 and is on tour for their new release The Act. The band opened with “Switchblade” from the new album and the crowd went crazy. The Devil Wears Prada worked their way through an intense set and left the fans wanting more. After a night of passionate metalcore music, no one left disappointed.
