The Indigo Girls delivered a moving and intimate performance on August 23, 2026,
closing out the summer season at Beak and Skiff Apple Orchards with pure acoustic
connection.
The vibe Sunday evening was simply audience connection; there were no backing
tracks, no pyrotechnics or video screens; it was pure folk energy. Amy Ray and Emily
Saliers relied entirely on their core musicianship and the outdoor setting as the Beak
and Skiff 2026 summer concert series came to a close. The chilly night also reminded
everyone that summer is quickly coming to an end.
The duo performed beloved tracks such as “Power of Two,” highlighting emotional depth
over pitch-perfect polish. A standout performance of “The Wood Song” grounded the
night’s theme of how art and voices evolve gracefully over time. The band loved the
apple cider donuts the venue is well known for, noting, “They play a lot of venues, but
they always remember the food.”
The crowd often matched the energy on the stage with massive singalongs, especially
during “Get Out the Map” and “Galileo.” Amy and Emily offered warm praise in return,
thanking the audience throughout the night, calling them fantastic listeners and singers.
The duo shared lighthearted laughter, silly jokes, and personal anecdotes between
songs. The mix of deep cuts and more popular tracks kept all the fans happy. The band
ended their set with an encore performance of “Kid Fears” and Closer to Fine,” taking a
final bow and saying, “Thanks for the joy.”
