Kittie brought their Legacy of Fire tour to the beautiful, historic Danforth Music Hall on Friday night for what was the second-to-last stop on this leg of the tour. The band delivered a triumphant, high-energy celebration of 30 years as a band and their first full headline run in over a decade. The ornate former movie palace—with its grand architecture, warm lighting, and perfectly raked floor—created an electric yet intimate atmosphere that felt tailor-made for the near-conclusion of this victorious run.

The evening opened with Gore, the Texas metalcore quartet led by vocalist Haley Roughton. They wasted no time igniting the crowd with their dynamic shifts from atmospheric to crushing, sparking early moshing and crowd surfing that rippled across the slanted main floor. While their songwriting stayed straightforward, the energy they brought perfectly warmed up the historic venue.

Kingdom of Giants from Sacramento followed and elevated the chaos. Their animated frontman and relentless metalcore attack had the entire hall moving, with bodies flying over the barricade and fists pumping from the floor all the way up to the balcony. The Danforth’s excellent sightlines meant even those further back or upstairs had a clear, immersive view of the frenzy.

When Kittie finally hit the stage, the historic theatre erupted. The band—Morgan, Mercedes, and Tara laying down a ferocious wall of sound, with Rachel Gonzales powerfully filling in on bass—sounded massive yet crystal clear thanks to the Danforth’s renowned acoustics. Every riff, thunderous drum fill, and guttural vocal cut through the ornate space with stunning clarity, making the 1,400-capacity room feel both grand and incredibly personal.

The career-spanning 20-song setlist was a masterclass:

Setlist:

  1. Fire
  2. I’ve Failed You
  3. Cut Throat
  4. Oracle
  5. Spit
  6. Do You Think I’m a Whore
  7. Ugly
  8. Empires (Part 2)
  9. We Are Shadows
  10. Pain
  11. What I Always Wanted
  12. Suck
  13. Burning Bridges
  14. Come Undone
  15. We Are the Lamb
  16. Vultures
  17. Charlotte
  18. Mouthful of Poison (extended outro jam) Encore:
  19. Brackish
  20. Eyes Wide Open

Newer tracks from Fire hit especially hard under the venue’s warm lights, while classics like “Spit,” “Cut Throat,” “Oracle,” and the emotional closer “Mouthful of Poison” had the whole room singing (and screaming) along. The crowd—a vibrant mix of longtime fans and a noticeably younger generation—fed off the band’s visible joy and sense of occasion, turning the main floor into a sea of motion while balcony viewers soaked in the full theatrical spectacle. You could feel the band pouring everything into this late-stage show, riding the momentum of a hugely successful tour leg.

Thirty years on, Kittie remains a trailblazing force in metal, and the Danforth Music Hall provided the perfect backdrop for their power. From the slanted floor that kept every angle viable to the rich, enveloping sound that filled the historic space, the venue amplified an already unforgettable performance. If you love heavy music done right, this tour—and this venue—is not to be missed. Toronto showed up, and Kittie delivered an absolute triumph. A night that will echo in that beautiful hall for a long time.
