Despite an overcast and slightly dreary evening, fans filled the Montage Music Hall in Rochester, NY excited to catch Little Miss Nasty with special guests Whitney Peyton and local hip hop artist Kid Nilla on the Weapon of Choice tour this past Saturday.
Starting off the evening was local up and coming hip hop artist Kid Nilla. I had not heard of this artist, but I am glad I got to the show early and had a chance to check him out. From the moment his set started, he had the crowd bouncing and dancing along to his music. Some of the notable songs from his set were “25” and the heavy hitting song “3Am.” I really enjoyed his set and had a chance to chat with him a bit after his set. I would recommend checking him out.

Next up was an artist I had been looking forward to checking out for a while, Whitney Peyton! Originally from Philadelphia, PA Whitney is a chart-topping, Grammy Award-Winning hip-hop artist whose combination of a firecracker personality and her unique rapping style has helped launch her career.
Whitney has an intense and precise rapping style and delivery which makes her a force to be reckoned with. I also admire the way she connects with the crowd and can hold their attention during her entire performance. Throughout her set, she moved from the stage to the pit multiple times singing, dancing, and partying with the fans.

Whitney is currently touring in support of her current release Side Effects, and we were fortunate enough to hear a few tracks from that album live including “Make Some Room” and “Leave Me Alone.” She also tossed in some earlier tracks like “Give It Gas” which got the room moving right along with her. I really enjoyed her set and wished it were longer. She is an incredibly talented artist and I expect to continue to see big things for her in the future.
Finally, it was time for the night’s headliner, Little Miss Nasty! Little Miss Nasty, who is out in support of their debut album Weapon of Choice started off their set in true LMN fashion storming the stage to some hard-hitting classic metal to get the crowd fired up for an intense performance.

Although Little Miss Nasty originally started out as a burlesque troupe in 2012, over the last several years they have pushed boundaries by recording their own music and putting out singles including “Hungry”, and “Little Miss Nasty.” Little Miss Nasty encourages you to be your most authentic self and has embodied the spirit of self-empowerment all while having fun onstage. The bold and fiery ladies ended their set with their new hit “Buried in Sin,” which left the fans wanting more. Speaking of more, Syracuse Music Collective’s own Natasha sat down with Gina Katon after the show for a chat about their music and the new album, so check it out. If you missed the Rochester show don’t worry, they are on tour until the end of May. They are definitely worth checking out.
