It is finally warming up here in Central New York which means there are more things to do and concert season is kicking off. The past Tuesday, the famed Lost Horizon in Syracuse hosted Boston based metal band, Above Snakes.
To be honest, I was not familiar with Above Snakes. They are currently on the road supporting the headliner, Adelita’s Way. As soon as Above Snakes took the stage, the pit started to pack in, and you could feel the energy radiating from the band. They lead off with the hard and heavy song “Nothing to Lose.” It was a terrific way to start the show and the crowd was into it, moshing, head banging and singing along. The way the band members connected with the fans was impressive. They played with precision and passion during their solid thirty-five-minute set. I really enjoyed “81 (Thallium)” and “The Broken Ones.”

Overall, I really enjoyed checking this band out and look forward to seeing them in future. I also had the opportunity to sit down with vocalist Johnny Skulls. We chatted about the band’s history, their influences and Johnny’s favorite food- pizza! Click on the interview below!
