Butcher Babies Bring Their Goliath Rage to Buffalo NY!

Photos and Review by Natasha Lewandowski

The Butcher Babies made a stop at Iron Works in Buffalo, NY on September 17 as part of their “Butcher Babies Vs. Goliath” tour. Accompanying them were Stitched Up Heart, and Infected Rain.

Stitched Up Heart was up first. Showing off her incredible vocal range, lead singer Alecia “Mixi” Demner delivered highs, lows, and even Valkyrie-like screams. The band worked every inch of the stage, engaging with the crowd their entire set. The band is touring in support of their 2020 EP release Darkness. The EP features the song “Lost” with vocals by Sully Erna. This song was amazing live. Stitched Up Heart finished up their set with “My Demon” and “Monster,” leaving fans wanting more.

Infected Rain took the stage next. This is the band’s first US appearance. They travelled all the way from Moldova to join the Butcher Babies on this tour. The audience greeted them with the love and energy they deserved. The four-piece band is extremely talented. Lena Scissorhands (lead singer) has an incredible stage presence. The band is on tour for their most recent release Endorphin. I hope Infected Rain felt the love and come back to the US soon.

It was time for the Butcher Babies. Front women Heidi Shepherd and Carla Harvey stepped on the stage and the crowd went wild. The Butcher Babies played several songs from their debut album Goliath, including “C8h18 (Gasoline)” and “I Smell a Massacre.” They also played some of their new singles, “Bottom of a Bottle,” “Yorktown,” and “It’s Killin’ Time, Baby!”

The Butcher Babies surprised fans with a double encore. They played their iconic “Magnolia Blvd.” I think everyone thought they were done for the night, but the house lights stayed dim and after a few moments, they returned to the stage and performed “They’re Coming to Take Me Away. Ha-Haaa!” (Napoleon XIV cover).

It was such a memorable night of female-fronted metal music. So much talent! If you haven’t seen any of the bands on the lineup, I highly recommend checking them out. Their live performances will blow you away!
