Heavy metal giants, Five Finger Death Punch, made a stop on their current headlining tour in Binghamton, NY on Wednesday July 24 at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena, bringing with them In This Moment and Fire From The Gods.
Opening the evening were the Austin, Texas natives, Fire from the Gods, who kicked off the show to a near capacity crowd. Fire From The Gods, who is currently on tour in support of their newest release American Sun, brought their blend of energetic and rhythmic hard rock to the Binghamton crowd. What I really liked was how the band blended heavy metal riffs and hip-hop style vocals. This shined through during their performance of “Truth to the Weak (Not Built to Collapse)” and “The Voiceless.” I suggest you check them out you will not be disappointed.
Next up, was In This Moment.
You could hear the faint sound of the intro playing as the band took the stage. Band front woman, Maria Brink, emerged from the darkness covered completely in a thin flowing gown donned with her thorn laden headpiece and surrounded by her blood girls. The show began with her eerie version of the Steve Miller classic, “Fly Like An Eagle.” It was breathtaking as the crowd sang along. Maria and the band wasted no time keeping things moving going right into “Roots” followed by “Natural Born Sinner.” I really enjoy seeing In This Moment live because not only is it an incredible show but it’s also an intense visual and sensory experience! The band ended their amazing set with their biggest hit “Whore” which Maria sang from a raised podium as giant balloons and confetti rained upon the crowd. Truly an incredible performance!
Closing out this night were the heavy metal titans and mischief makers themselves, Five Finger Death Punch. The band is on tour in support of their current album And Justice For None. The band consisting of Drummer Jeremy Spencer, Guitarist Jason Hook, Bassist Chris Kael, Guitarist Zoltan Bathory and the infamous lead singer Ivan Moody stormed the stage going right into the heavy hitting “Lift Me Up,” to get the crowd fired up and to set the tone for the remainder of the evening.
The band played a very diverse mix of their songs consisting of fan favorites like “Wash It All Away,” “Jekyll and Hyde,” along with their incredible versions of Bad Company’s “Bad Company” and The Offspring’s “Gone Away.” One thing I can say about Ivan Moody is that whether you are a fan of his or not, he has no problem speaking his mind. He took a minute to level with the fans about one his biggest mistakes which he described as, “getting back on social media” because he has a strong disgust for it all. He then casually reminded the fans that those on social media forgot he, “doesn’t give a f@ck about what people think.” It was a suiting intro to their song about social media, “Sham Pain.”
As Always, Fiver Finger Death Punch closed out an incredible night of music with a heavy, all-in performance. Overall, a great night of music at the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. Please enjoy photo highlights from the show.
