Man, Crypta, that killer all-female death metal crew from Brazil, hit Toronto like a freaking hurricane, and the crowd ate it up! These ladies are straight-up beasts with their instruments and stage vibe, proving they’re a must-see in today’s death metal scene.
The night kicked off with two local bands, Death Club and Pretty Face. Never heard of ‘em before, but damn, they got the place hyped! The crowd was already throwing up metal horns, banging heads, and screaming along to their heavy riffs. You could feel the energy building, like everyone was itching for Crypta to take over. Gotta check out these bands’ stuff later—they earned some new fans for sure.
When Fernanda Lira, Crypta’s badass vocalist and bassist, strutted up to the mic, the room exploded. Her growls hit like a punch to the gut, and the crowd went wild, moshing and shouting her name. She’s got this vibe that just owns the stage, and you could see fans losing their minds every time she leaned into the front row. The setlist was a banger, mixing tracks from their killer second album, Shades of Sorrow, with crowd-pleasers from their debut, Echoes of the Soul. Songs like “Dark Clouds” had the pit churning—people were slamming into each other, screaming the lyrics like their lives depended on it. “The Outsider” turned the venue into a sea of raised fists and headbanging, with fans chanting along to every riff. They wrapped it up with “From the Ashes,” and holy crap, the place was a sweaty, euphoric mess—everyone was yelling, some dude even crowd-surfed right to the stage!
The band’s skills are next-level. Luana Dametto on drums? Total beast. Her beats were like a freaking earthquake, and the crowd roared every time she nailed a crazy fill. People were pointing at her kit, just geeking out over her speed and precision. Then you’ve got Jéssica di Falchi and Tainá Bergamaschi shredding guitars like it’s nothing. Their riffs and solos had fans air-guitaring like maniacs, and when they synced up for those tight harmonies, the crowd went nuts, screaming for more.
What makes Crypta’s shows so dope is how raw and real it feels. No fancy lights or props—just pure, in-your-face metal. Fernanda kept the crowd hooked, locking eyes with fans and hyping us up between songs. At one point, she yelled, “Toronto, you ready to lose it?!” and the whole place erupted in cheers. After the show, the band hung out, signing shirts
