The Tim Reynolds Trio (TR3) made a stop on their 2017 summer tour at the Homer Center for the Arts in Homer, NY on Friday July 7.
It was my second time seeing TR3 live and they are an incredibly talented trio. The band consists of Tim Reynolds (guitar and vocals) who is best known as the guitarist for the Dave Matthews Band, Dan Martier on drums, and the very light hearted Mick Vaughn on the bass.
Tim and the band got the evening started off with a tune that Tim describes as the way things should be always be approached, “Non- Violent Approach” which is a very mellow and euphoric bluesy tune, off of their album From Space And Beyond. Between songs Tim took time to tell little stories, crack jokes and encourage those in the audience to have a good time, “get up and dance if you want.” And believe me some very excited audience members did just that. How can you not rock out especially when TR3 cranks out their insane version of “Mello Yellow” or the classic Jethro Tull song “Aqualung” performed by drummer Dan Martier.
I couldn’t’ help but laugh, when Tim quipped about being in a church (the Homer Center for the Arts is a renovated one) “so lets play something suiting”, and the band delved into a rocking track called “666.” The crowd went nuts.
After a solid 2hrs hours, Tim and company said good night and stepped off the stage for a brief break before coming back out and playing their ripping and cranked up version of Golden Earring’s “Radar Love.” I have to admit I really love their version. It makes you want to get up and dance. That’s how the band left the audience, dancing and cheering for more.
