Crystal Garden w/ Boyd Tinsley (DMB), Mycle Wastman (The Voice) Perform April 2 & 3 in CNY

Crystal Garden, the popular new group produced by Dave Matthews Band violinist Boyd Tinsley, will perform two shows in Central New York on April 2 and 3.

The band, with soul singer MycleWastman of ‘The Voice’ fame, will be at The Range in Ithaca on April 2 and at Funk ‘n Waffles Downtown Syracuse on April 3, said promoter Kevin Black of Kevin Black Presents. Electric violin virtuoso Boyd Tinsley of DMB will join the band for these concerts, which include a post-show “Meet and Greet” for ticket buyers.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Advance tickets are available at www.kevinblackpresents/tickets.

Crystal Garden is about to release its debut album, “Let the Rocks Cry Out.” The band has been selling out 300- to 500-seat venues even before Tinsley began performing with the group he created.

Tinsley formed the band as a side project to DMB in Fall 2015, seeking out musicians to create a signature rock/blues/soul sound. Lead singer MycleWastman, the Seattle singer who was a finalist on Season 3 of ‘The Voice,’ put his solo career on hold to join Crystal Garden.

Tinsley is performing with the band while on a break from DMB, offering a great opportunity to hear the legendary violinist and the band he has described as “having the same sensibility that music had in the 1960s and 1970s , rocking from the heart and expressing something real.”

Besides Wastman, Crystal Garden includes James Frost-Winn on trumpet, Charlie Csontos on bass, and Matt Frewen on drums.

“Both The Range in Ithaca and Funk ‘n Waffles Downtown Syracuse are intimate, personal spaces, so there’s not a bad view for these shows,” Black said. “All ticket holders will have a chance to meet the musicians, including Boyd, after the performances.”

Ithaca alt-rock/folk band Vinegar Williams will open for the Ithaca show at 8 p.m. April 2. St., Vith, a jazz-influenced jam band out of Jamesville, NY, will open the Syracuse show at 8 p.m. April 3.
