Pop Evil made a stop in Syracuse at the Crouse Hinds Theater on Tuesday September 13. Pop Evil is on tour as direct support for 3 Doors Down and is on the road promoting their current album Up that was released this past August. The album showcases Pop Evil’s commitment to expanding their musical style. Their first single “Take it All the Way” is an audio and video masterpiece. The song is catchy, with tight, fast riffs, but the band takes it over the top by incorporating the latest video technology. The video is filmed with 360 degree technology that allows the viewer to change the perspective to whatever they choose.
Pop Evil played a high energy, intense set. They took the stage and immediately tore into “Ways to Get High” getting the audience pumped. The band cranked out loads of hits including, “Deal with the Devil,” “Torn to Pieces” and live rarity “100 In A 55.” I would be remiss not to mention the newest addition to the band, Haley Cramer, who took over drum duties for Josh “Chachi Riot” Marunde who left the band earlier this year due to family reasons. Cramer is a solid replacement. She pounds the heck out of the drums with a combination of ferocity and precision. The band wrapped up a very incredible set with their newest single “Take It all.” They thanked Syracuse for their continual support throughout the years and bid the crowd goodnight.
Before the show I had the opportunity to sit down with bassist Matt DiRito and of course I was excited to talk with him. We spoke candidly about their current tour with 3 Doors Down, the process of filming a video with live 360 degree technology and what music he is currently listening to. Matt is a very friendly and easy person to talk with. I enjoyed interviewing him and hope you enjoy the interview as well.
